A Picture-Perfect September Day at Burt's Pumpkin Farm in Georgia

As the calendar flipped to September, the unmistakable whispers of fall began to sweep through the air. And what better way to kick off this cozy season than a visit to Burt's Pumpkin Farm in Georgia? Nestled in the heart of the state, this family-owned farm has become a quintessential autumn destination, drawing visitors from near and far. On a crisp September day, my family and I embarked on a memorable adventure that we'll cherish forever.

As we approached the farm, the scent of pumpkin-spiced delights hung in the air, promising a day filled with all things autumn. The aroma of freshly baked pumpkin goods was simply irresistible. Once inside, we were greeted by a sea of pumpkins in all shapes, sizes, and colors. It was a pumpkin lover's paradise.

The HayRide Adventure: After grabbing a bag of popcorn to munch on, we purchased tickets for the hayride, one of the highlights of our day. The hayride took us on a journey through the farm's picturesque landscape, covering over 2 miles (20 minutes) of fall scenes. We marveled at the vibrant wildflowers that adorned the fields and felt a shiver of excitement as we passed through a spooky tunnel, which added an unexpected thrill to our adventure.

The wildflowers are absolutely breathtaking!

Our hayride experience wouldn't have been complete without a visit from the farm's mascots, Autumn and Gordy. These delightful characters brought smiles to both young and old with their playful antics and heartwarming messages about the joys of the season. It was a moment of pure family fun that we'll cherish forever.

Autumn and Gordy are so cute!!

As our hayride came to an end, we were treated to a breathtaking sight: Amicalola Falls flowing gracefully down the mountainside. It was a scene straight out of a postcard, and we couldn't resist snapping a few photos to capture the moment forever.

If you look closely you can see Amicalola Falls among the wildflowers and picturesque farm views…

We unloaded from the hayride and headed to the pumpkin patch, where we faced the delightful dilemma of choosing the perfect pumpkin. With over 10 different types of pumpkins to choose from, the options were endless. Some were destined to become jack-o'-lanterns, while others would grace our home as autumn decorations.

Before leaving, we ventured into the farm's gift shop. There, we picked up some Calabaza Stew for an easy weeknight dinner. We also couldn't resist grabbing a loaf of freshly baked pumpkin bread for a sweet treat that would delight the entire family.

If you have never had Burt’s Calabaza Stew, grab a jar or 2 on your next visit. Thank me later…

We made one last stop at the charming covered bridge. From this vantage point, we soaked in the scenic beauty that surrounded us—the mountains, picturesque creek, and the promise of autumn in the air. It was a moment of reflection on a day filled with laughter, fun, and the magic of the season.

In conclusion, Burt's Pumpkin Farm in Georgia is a true treasure and a must-visit destination in September.
